The success of any blog, depends on its popularity. Its popularity depends on the number of visitors received by the blog on daily a basis so, I shall discuss the issue of free traffic generation in such a way that even you can understand, implement, and achieve results using these simple techniques.

Below, are a few traffic-generating techniques available to you as a blogger:

1. SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION: your blog’s host network will usually submit your blog to the search engine upon creation and publication except of course, you decline the option when prompted. Achieving good page ranking with the search engines depends on your use of well-researched long tailed tags and key words relevant to the content of your blog. For keyword research, go to overture.com . Another very important aspect to search engine optimization is the frequency of postings to your blog. Some recommends you post on a daily basis to your blog but I think three times a week is good enough for the search engines to crawl your blog, find new posts, and then bring them up in the page rankings.

2. LINK EXCHANGES: This is where the links to your blog is displayed on other blogs and websites while you also accept links to other blogs or websites to be displayed on your blog. All these by special arrangements.

3. ARTICLE MARKETING: Submit articles you post on your blog to online magazines (Ezines) like ezinearticles , digg.com , squidoo etc. Put the link to your blog at the end of the article to create back links for readers to click on and go to your blog for more.

4. FREE ADVERTISING SITES: Search for free advertising sites in the search engines, select some that appeal to you, post your ads as required. Note that these adverting sites operate various forms of traffic generations. This makes using a handful advantageous. Some of them do not even require your registration before posting free ads.

5. SOCIAL NETWORKS: Here, all you need do is to become members of some of the social networks like facebook or twitter free, meet people of like minds, become their friends and suggest your blog to them. Of course, they will visit your blog on your advice but they will only spend quality time there or come back again if they find the blog interesting.

The list above is not exclusive as there are a lot more proven free traffic generating techniques. However, these should do for now and as you progress in your online career, more shall be revealed to you.

Note that above, is just an overview of these techniques. You can be as innovative as you can in there usage. Also, bear in mind that no single one is capable of giving you the result you may desire but a combination there of can ensure swam of visitors to your blog.
